Oscar wrote:]lack the speedand stamina to last with these top fighters in the recent years.
speed yes defienatly wasnt rocky's asset but stamina the man was never EVER tired he was in the gym every day with a fight or without a fight. he would throw alot of hard punches and it would wear him down
but maricnao was a rock he was unmoveable your only way of winning was moving and geting out of trouble. tyson knows only to come foreward
marciano's chin stamina and cany abilty to not be beat will win him the fight

no you havnt got my gist at all. these writers would prefer marcinao over lewis becuase they grew up with him. almost all ring magazine writers are 3 generation of writers and every time they have to follow suit.
im not aginst them at all and i havnt once said i was better than them . but they are men trying to publish a magazine and a coer story of an undefeated heavywieght champion years back does sell issues.
i trust the ring but i wouldnt believe all they are saying. they all have agenda's

at the mo im getting quite partial to a heavywieght called 'fast' eddie chambers a really...fast(wow you guessed it) heavywieght he is a cruiseriwgeh treally and packs fat around the wiastline but his combo's are stunning just non stop workrate and loads of heart and abilty for aman of his size
bolded the ones I agree with Calzaghe man, one of the best athletes i've seen, stamina in him is amazing. Apparently he doesn't spar in training just does alot of cardio and bag work/pads ect. Seems to work for him aswell, fitness at a top level and always seems eager in the ring, great fighter.
Nigel Benn's proper entertaining to watch aswell, some of the fights where he comes out like a bull landing punch after punch for ages is class to watch, his defence wasn't as good but his attack has got of been one of the best I've seen.
calzaghe is a beast he clocks on average 80 punches a round...lightwieghts cant reach that type of workrate.his left hand was so powerful till it broke. uses his southpawness well and is a class act outside the ring.
he runs in the welsh valleys thats the reason why he is so fit he doesnt get undertrained he is always in a gym or on a run. he pounds up byut he is always in shape. i think he walks around 180 which is pretty good for a man his size. ricky hatton goes form 10 to 12 stone erik morales goes form 9'8 stone to a bizaar 13 stone.
one of the best athletes in boxing.
and benn was a beast i heard he used to not shower or shave for weeks until the fight...fucking mad man. and his defence was pretty good in his later career after he lost to michael watson he sorted his defence out though he wasnt all action like before he was more of boxer puncher with a banging jab and a awsome right hand and left hook. his bobbing and weaving motion was amazing he rarely got hit. unless he traded in shots.
great fighter. i heard he is selling his belts because he doesnt want to be acoiated with boxing.after mcClellan fight he was really depressed. and tried to commit suicide with sleeping tablets and he woke up 2 days later and found god he is now a born again christian. and now a preacher in majorca...damn good for him he is really happy now.

sterlihalla wrote:rocky voted by ring magazine best puncher 14th of all time fact and theres a reason for that cause he fought tough opponants in his era some in prime and some out of there prime and he would of kept fighting if it werent for his back injury.
to be honest ali wasnt sought after when he retired even today people will say what a weak division it was and how he wasnt ... or didnt ...
point is the ring is a magazine and as much a i hate to say it they are biased in the opinions.
remember the ring magazine is a magazine. and the publishers and the writers. have men who are in their late 50's later 60's even older writing for them. some have met and talked with some of these fighter back in the day. in that the opinions are based on them and the young comers not wanting to look out of place has to keep in line like the other writers.
not just that most of these new sports writers arnt boxing fans and will get pulled into anything. i remember hogg getting fired becuase he thought cassius clay and muhhamad ali were 2 different people.this is coming from a young 25 old man.
now this is bad when new writers are not expressing themselves becuase they are afraid of what others might think of them.reputation is what you stand on in media business and if you arnt following suit then your going to look tarnished.
the ring shouldnt be invited into stuff like this...they have a guy called chris arreola who is good but not top 10 good.
and thats FACT

sterlihalla wrote:theres a reason why rocky was ranked 14th best punchers of al time while lewis was 33th puncher because he did more then hope to hit you rocky is underrated for ability and it was 2 different decades rocky was in the hardest one while lewis was in the easiest.
you are kidding marciano was in the weakest division
joe louis had retired
archie moore was old old old
ezzard charles was ending his career
lastarza was rubbish.
good fiteres but way out of there prime most in the late 30's who started at light heavywight.
lewis's era is underated it's a time when there were more belts to win ibf, wbo, ibo, wba, wbc it's impossible to keep track of all the best belt holders.
anyways lennox had a better longer career than marciano by a country mile.

rocky tyson as fast as he was wouldnt ko him you have to outbox marciano to win. and tyson as good a fighter as he is would lose holyfield-tysonI styley

diego was a hearty fighter who was very tall for the wieght yet had t-rex styled arms and couldnt use it to his advantge.
nah he was an arrogant cunt as i can remember callin gjoel casamyor out then canceling on him becuase he didn twant to then coming out of shape then beatin ghis wife then coming over wieght when he said the exactly the sam ething to castillo in castillo-corrales II
nice puncher hit hard very chinny but wouldnt stop punching till they woke him up or told him he had won

Also who u think is the best at the moment?
tut tut
it's a shame becuase people have been saying how weak the division is...thus making loads of old fat over 200 pounders thinkking they can win a slice of the pie thus it hampers down the real heavywieghts
and adds worse fighters to the mix.
but there are som egreat prospects coming up.

Oscar wrote:Who do you find most entertaining to watch?
I personally love watching Oscar De La Hoya (hence I named my OB guy after him) as I think his style of winning his fights with straights and gradually beating his oppenent is great to watch. He also has oneof the most sharp and powerful left hooks i've seen from a boxer. I watched some of his amatuer fights once and he had a great left hook then, knocking people out when he was around 12 or something with left hooks, and still to this day he knocks people all over with sharp left hooks e.g Vargas.
Erik Morales is another boxer i love to watch. I've followed him since i first took an interest in boxing. Even though his recent fights havn't been up to his prime standard, his fights before the loss to Pacquiao(sp?) and one of the fights against Pacquiao(sp?) were some of the best fights i've seen. I think he has great chin and his balanced style is textbook but still really great to watch when he outboxes a good boxer.
he is a left hander didnt you know. thats why his jab and left hook is so lethal and his right hand is powerful becuaseit's form the backfoot just a factiod

for chin watch this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4SQmxIP5Bk
for heart watch this (but watch the whole fight look at how agains the odds lennox comes back turns the tide and bites all the grit to win)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBG3AZTl4zE
for power and speed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTPzQvlYLvE
also look out for the ruddock ,grant, tyson fights in perticulur for power
llok for tyson, morrison, tua to see what he does to small guys
lewis is by no means my fav fighter he clinched like hell when he was winning (which helps from a tatic point but isnt fan friendly)

sterlihalla wrote:LOL could you kis lewis anymore? and smaller fighters are harder to hit when fighting a tall fighter it can go either way
depends on the fighter marciano wanst shy on getting hit he would get outjabbed and dominated.
this is by no means a bad thing to marciano he coudl beat alot fo fighters but styles makes fights and these 2 stlyes makes lewis win.
ever seen tua vs lewis...fucking boring fight but same thing box and then clicnh and crush your oppoanant.
very similar to felix savoon style of fighting he would just be so big that you woudl just drop

sterlihalla wrote:lol jigsaw and watson doesnt know how tuff and ruff old fighters were these days they arent as tough as rocky but i gues we wil never kno but lewis weak chin would lose him the fight.
Facts are rocky marcino almost hit as hard as joe louis in his prime and i dont think you gna say lewis has more power then joe lol lewis just had alot of fat on him lol.
you're so ignorant.jeez joe louis hits very hard but he was ranked #1 by the ring puncher rankings becuase it was who could set the punches up the best joe louis used combo's a jab to corner them and a left hook adn right hand that left opponents in a mess on the canvas.
marciano had nowhere near the power lewis or louis had marcinao is a hype thing the mythical unbeaten record. i think you have bought into the unbeaten fighter is unbeatable. his koes were brought on by a war of attrition not one clean punch.
lewis did have one shot he merced hasim rahman, hurt holyfield rocked....the hardest chinned fighter of all time in oliver mcCall, out jabbed the best jabber of one of the best jab in the era mercer, tyson was out slugged....and hurt rarely did tyson get hurt and he was hurt 4 times in the fight. and even when he was out of shape at an advanced age of 37 a tim ewhen most champions couldnt win a fight let alone be undisputed lineal heavywieght champion
the fight would be this.
marciano and lewis start(duh!!!) lewis pumps the jab when marciano come foreward lewis covers up as marciano fires off. the main stratagy for lewis is to jab and clinch the first few rounds go for the face and the nland the bigger bombs. after round 4 move him he is a littl eguy just barge him to the other side of the ring (something few fighter could do agaisnt marcinao becuase of wieght and hieaght advantages) land the jab to keep him at arms length then whack right hands down the pipe. marcinao as tough as he is isnt human. lennox was just to slick, agile ,big strength...
it would be frazier vs foreman with out the knock out or the knokcdowns.
the bigger man would just use his levarage and just win the fight.

sterlihalla wrote:lol so you was terry then? cause you could of just posted this in my thread.
Rocky would beat lewis hands down because lewis was slow, not much punching power and weak chin also not enough heart.
nah
lewis didnt have punching power???
you cant be head-set.
why i think lewis wins is because of hit use of hieght and reach and use it to his advantage where as marciano just ran at you and hoped you would go down by the 15th round bell.
now lewis in the early days when he was in his first stage was a big big puncher i think thats what you would only call him he use the jab to line up a right hand to as frat boys would say Knock you The Fuck Out.
but later around 1996-2000 he had amazing stamina freakish power and a sturdy chin...to thos ewho look on boxrec see 2 koes and think he was weak chinned should look closer. mcCall vs lewis was a freak shot it was picture perfect it landed right when lewis thrown his overhand right and boom he got knocked down....an din that he got up less than 7 seconds. it was the ref who said no thats enough bizaar ref call when lennox was in front of him staring at him for like 3 secs(which is a long time) to say nah you cant continue. he shoudl of been alowed to fight on and recover.
in the rahman-lewis fight lennox as an idget in the true sense of the word
he under trained made in oceans 11 only 2 weeks from the fight!!!! you should be in training camp not even thinking of making appearences in films. he actually had to fly to the u.s to film it somthing is wrong when that is happening.
and he just danced mocking rahman so hasim threw a right while lennox wasnt looking his way and whoomp...slap bang on the floor.
a well motivated lennox is very very very very hard to beat becuase he has never been beaten when out of shape.
his boxing abilty in most fights saved him and his ring generalship to control the fight would dominate any small heavy.
