Paul Dion wrote:I agree to what you say Barack...but my money will still be on GSP when they fight...Alves has a chance...but GSP will be too good for him in my eyes!

I rate Anderson Silva at #2 or #3 in the pound for pound list. I agree with Fedor at #1.

My P4P Top 3:

1. Fedor
2. Anderson Silva
3. GSP

Maybe GSP should be #2 ... but not so sure... Either way I rate these guys in my top 3 pound for pound.

That's what my list looks like. I agree that Silva and GSP are interchangeable, although I'd rate Silva at #2 since he hasn't lost in the UFC, unlike St. Pierre.
Whomever is imitating me, you're a sad person.

Btw, I cant see anyone beating this guy. I dont know if he is in same Weight as rampage but he would be him for sure.

Rich Franklin owned Hammil like he was a toy.

Lightweight

I see BJ Penn dominating at 155lbs for a long time and staying champion. I believe the only other guys that pose a slight threat to him in the division are Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez. KenFlo is no joke...he looks like Ben Stiller but he is a great fighter who fights intelligently. Sanchez was a top fighter at Welterweight but got beat down by other talented fighters that were naturally bigger guys...so he moved down in weight to 155...now he is the larger guy...if you put two talented fighters against each other...and they both are pretty even on paper...the naturally bigger, stronger guy, will most likely win. So I see Sanchez being deadly at 155!

My Top 3:

1. BJ Penn
2. Kenny Florian
3. Diego Sanchez

Welterweight

Georges St.Pierre will be champion in this division for a long time. Mark my words. He is an absolute beast...a total athlete and excellent fighter. I don't see anyone coming close to him at 170lbs. However other fighters that I rate highly at 170lbs are Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch. I don't see any of them beating GSP though.

My Top 3:

1. GSP
2. Thiago Alves
3. Jon Fitch

Middleweight

One name. Anderson Silva. He is rated by many as pound for pound the best MMA fighter in the world. I'm not sure I rate him number 1 pound for pound but he is in my top 3. He is the most dominant champion at the moment...nobody at 185lbs can beat him... my "future" star in middleweight division is Demian Maia (remember the name). He is an absolute MASTER at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has a semi-decent stand up game...he is decent in the clinch...and he is an absolute genius on the ground. The only other great fighter at middleweight is Dan Henderson. He isn't really the future though because he is a veteran...but he is a beast with knockout power in both hands.

My Top 3:

1. Anderson Silva
2. Demian Maia
3. Dan Henderson

Light Heavyweight

Now this is tough. The division is STACKED with amazing fighters. Right now the champ is Rashad Evans...and rightfully so. I underestimated him in the past...but after knocking out Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffen he won by respect. I love Quinton "Rampage" Jackson but I have to rate Rashad as number 1 right now...because he is so explosive and has excellent movement and agility...with knockout power too. Rampage is just an all out powerhouse with KO power in both hands...he rarely kicks or takes down his opponent...Mikkel will like Rampage because I think he is most like a boxer than any other fighter at 205lbs. He just uses his top boxing ability throughout most of the fight...looking for a knockout. I believe the best up-and-comer has to be Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida...he is like a true ninja on his feet...similar to Rashad Evans...but BETTER footwork and elusiveness. He would probably beat Rampage in a fight because he would be able to hit and run...using his superior footwork to escape Rampages power punches. The only other stand out that could challenge for the title is Forrest Griffin in my opinion.

My Top 3:

1. Rashad Evans
2. Lyoto Machida
3. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

Heavyweight

Brock Lesnar. His sheer size and strength will be hard to overcome...because he is a good fighter and a world class wrestler too...so it's not just a "big guy"...it is a "big guy who can fight"...very dangerous! He is the champion and I think it will stay that way for quite some time...he is ever improving too. Frank Mir is scheduled to fight him next...he beat him the first time because he caught him in a submission...even though Brock dominated the entire fight...I guarantee this wont happen next time...Brock will smash Mir into lala land. Shane Carwin is new to the game, even though he is old at 34...but his power is IMMENSE...I mean...all his fights have ended in round 1...he has amazing knockout power and recently knocked out Gonzaga with a short right punch...he has a very good chin too because Gonzaga caught him twice on the chin..HARD..and he managed to shake it off. He is an up-and-comer to look out for...remember the name...Shane Carwin! Ok next up...another up-and-comer...but he is younger...Cain Velasques..insiders who work in training camps say this guy is a BEAST...he works so hard and has amazing cardio..he can knock out anyone too..top wrestler also...I think he is future champ...mark my words. Frank Mir also deserves a mention as he beat Brock Lesnar and Minotauro Nogueira recently. Cheik Kongo also deserves a shout out!

My Top 3:

1. Brock Lesnar
2. Frank Mir
3. Shane Carwin

So there it is...I hope you like the post and take an interest in MMA. More specifically the UFC. Remember the guys I picked are just my opinion.

A few comments. I wouldn't say GSP is unbeatable. Alves has a great chance at defeating him. Let's not forget that GSP lost to Serra of all people not too long ago. Yes, it was a fluke, but it proved that St. Pierre's punch resistance isn't that great.

Don't believe what Dana White says about Silva being #1 in the world P4P. Until he loses, that title belongs to Fedor, a non-UFC fighter. Dana just wants to say he (UFC) has the best fighter in the world but he's wrong.

Fedor is the best heavyweight in the world and the best P4P fighter, period.

Thanks for the correction. I thought Undisputed is holding three belts.

I've been beating everyone lately from left to right the past few weeks. I successfully defended both my belts against Rocky, Vargas, Nigel and many others. Its not easy of being a two belt champion. This is my 3rd day holding it. I've defeated two very tough oppenents to get those belts.

It looks like your style has benefitted a great deal from the stamina adjustment. And if the stamina has sigificantly changed, I too would probably benefit from it. You and I like to throw a lot of punches.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'll probably get a training id and mess around with it this weekend. Unlike Fatny, I'm only extremely good when I play the game everyday for a month straight or something close to that. Without much activity, I can come back and do well but I'm not as consistent as I'd like to be.
Correction:

When ranking the best ever, I rate those that dominated on OBv1 and OB2D ahead of those that just dominated OB2D. It's not fair to forget OB Version #1. Therefore, my rankings look a bit different.

IMO, the best player ever is Larry Holmes. He was IMO the 2nd best ever in OBv1 and Top 5 in OB2D. Unfortunatley, Here to Fight and Fatny weren't around for OBv1 so that hurts them in an all-time sense.

Also, although LAB was the best ever in OB1, he never amounted to much in OB2D so that hurts him immensely as well. Same goes for Mike Tyson, who has never really come into his own in OB2D. Hence, when creating these all-time lists, one needs to look at the whole picture.

i beat sal 6 times(he was on random alts)

and remember you played longer than I have so you cant count the old fights

I haven't played in awhile bro.

It'll be fun to get back into the mix in about 2-3 months though. Right now I'm focusing all of my free time on studying for an exam to get into graduate school. I've been putting it off for far too long, but now it's time to go back to school and obtain an MBA.

I thought you were from California? If you're Mexican-American, like myself, you're considered American.

However, if you were born and raised in Mexico, then you can claim "Mexican" as your nationality.

It's just a damn shame..

Are you dense? RJJ held 6 titles at 175 continuously, including all 4 major titles. You can't win every fucking belt by hand picking your opponents if anything his division was just shitty, and he still beat Virgil Hill, P4P James Toney, Hopkins and the (at the time) undefeated Montell Griffin. This is what happens when people go on boxrec and look at records instead of actually following boxing. Way to look ignorant. Margarito is a bitch ass cheater no one needed to fight him. And Cotto was all hype.

Do you know what "dilution of titles" means? And no, RJJ wasn't undisputed when he was at 175. He never fought the linear champion, Dariusz Michalczewski.

I have been following boxing for longer than you have been alive. I'm knowledgable enough to realize the man never fully tested himself consistently. He's become much more likeable since he got KTFO by Tarver. Sadly, he's never been able to pull off one last late run in his career, something grade A greats have been able to accomplish.
Mikkel wrote:Mosley is a lot more accomplished fighter. He is willing to fight ANYONE. Never been knocked off his feet..a fighter that can beat the odds.
And just as important, his fights are action packed, he is willing to trade punches.
I can't remember seeing Floyd in a good fight. Havent seen all his fights but his latest so called "big fights" were total bores.

Agreed. Shane Mosley is also a much greater fighter in an all-time sense. Shane has been an excellent fighter at 135 & 147. 154 was just a little too much for him. He was too undersized but we must still give him credit for fighting the best.
Mikkel wrote:Had he fought Cotto and Margarito there whouldnt be a problem. But like RJJ, he only took the fights he was 99% sure to win.

Preach it.

He ducked every threat at WW as if they were the plague.
Professor wrote:Mayweather is legit don't be disrespectful.

Also, saying RJJ is a ducker is nothing beyond. He held and defended every major belt at 175. RJJ didn't duck, but if he ever tried, all the guy would have to do is become a mandatory for 1 out of about 4 different sanctioning bodies.
Crazy thread..

RJJ was a ducker. I followed his entire career.

He didn't fight about 4-5 top fighters from 160-168. After the Toney fight, he basically went on a hiatus where he literally fought garbage men, full-time cops, and other part-time boxers, for close to ten years before moving up to heavyweight to face John Ruiz.

There's no doubt he had great speed and reflexes, but how do you think you would look if you were boxing your 5 year old cousin? It's all about quality of opposition and RJJ lacks that element on his ledger.

Now I'm not saying he wasn't great. He sure was, just not as great as many of the younger fans believe.
Skillz wrote:He only didn't fight about 3 ppl.

And about the castillo fight-A win is a win is a win.

Emanuel has given top fighters some of there best fights. Journeymen or not.
Angel Manfredy was a Great prospect, Jesus Chavez only has like 2 losses.

Dela Hoya has lost like 50% of his big fights.
Mosley x2
Trinidad
Mayweather
Pacquaio
Hopkins.
Do i need to go on?

Mayweather has fought the best otherwise he wouldnt have been champ.
Give him some credit, just cuz someone does good doesn't call for critism ALL THE TIME.
All i ever hear is Mayweather this Mayweather tht just cuz he retired undefeated and is cocky haha. get over it.

Guys like De La Hoya and Mosley lost fights because they actually fought the best each division had to offer. Floyd, on the other hand, carefully picked his battles and of course retired before he was forced to face his most difficult battles.

It's not about him being cocky and arrogant. It's simply about him never fighting the best at 140, 147, and 154, 3 divisons where he picked up paper straps.
