Hey folks i went sparring at this other gym i didnt have a mouth piece with me or a head guard so i was a lil nervous but i sparred this middlewieght anyway by the way im super featherwieght myself.
He had 15 years expierance on me and his dad use to be a pro boxer so he was well trained he frustrated me a bit because i cudnet get my jab going or get inside his long reach.
I learned about the dangerous of going to the body by taking a right hand on the jaw as you will see in the second video i was slightly dazed but i didnt let it bother me.
I did land some gd body shots though a couple of hooks and jabs but i cudnet quite hit him on the head much but at least i landed something lol.
First vid as you can see i jabbed him to the body at the begining then tried to work my jab.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOzHIzEQjGE

Second vid you can see i took a few good shots sometimes in sparring its hard to stop your power in a punch well he caught me with a nice right hand right on the jaw at least i dont have a glass jaw.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S3oDXsrudA

I showed alot of flaws and showed my ring rust advice/criticism is appreciated.
I thought you people would like to see that i do full contact sparring because some people think i only do body sparring :S

The first thing I noticed is that you put next to nothing into your jab. Your hips are static, no twisting into your jab at all and apart from making it look bad it'll also reduce the power you could have behind it by quite alot. Next thing I noticed is that you waste a hell of a lot of energy bouncing around as if you're on a trampoline, this won't get you no where especially when you're not punching with it, I'd recommend stepping rather than jumping, adjust and move your upper body instead of skipping around and you'll conserve your energy much better. This also makes your balance shite, as shown when he hits you with a soft right hand into your guard and you stumble back as if you'd been caught with a haymaker in the chin. Last thing I noticed is that you seem to have no confidence in the ring, you come in with a jab and run back out, I don't think I saw more than 1 combo in both of the vids, mix your punches up and throw more, especially against a bigger lad, it's no good using the run -> run-> run-> run-> run-> run-> quick jab run -> run-> run-> run-> run-> run-> jab tactic. Last thing you said "I don't have a glass jaw" in all honesty, those vids don't prove that as he barely hits you, if anything he's letting you have a go at him and see how you box, if not it means he's completely shit.

I agree with what Oscar said (sup bro) in the way you dance around and occasionally flick a jab in. This is a bad tactic IMO as all you are doing is allowing the guy to control the ring (you are moving away from him always so it puts him in a better counter position IMO) and letting him get comfortable with your run flick run flick style.

I don't expect much from you, you're just learning so all is good, it's these things that you will learn to correct and it will make you better finding it in your style early.

When you throw your hook you seem to lean over too much, there's leaning in and following your punch with weight and then there's over extending and putting yourself off balance. You get counter hooked doing that (over extending) and you're going to sleep ! Try stepping in a little more closing the distance when you throw your hook as it will give you greater power as your base is more solid and at the same time (solid base) it will help you keep your balance. You have to step back up straight to correct your balance when in that time if you had positioned yourself correctly you could of used it to throw another well balanced shot and don't run the risk of getting put on your arse due to poor balance (soft shots won't throw you off).

I'm no expert, so I could be talking out of my arse but I'm giving you my honest opinion of what I thought of the videos.

Good luck, keep it up !

Glasschin? Your chin has never been tested by a real fighter. Put them 10 OZ gloves on and have a real fight and we will see.

if you call that sparring then I laugh at you.

how can you call it ring rust when you have never stepped into a ring?

how can you call that "full contact" sparring when the last time I saw someone spar like that was in the 9 and under kickboxing class I used to teach. yea that was a crushing blow he hit you with the last thing is that you look like you dont even belong in a ring sparring.

your jumping around like your weiner is caught in your zipper, any idiot can do that. If I was you I wouldnt ever post this garbage.

you want criticism? well here it is. you have a very long way to go before I would even say your ready to go on a tear as an amature.. if you were half as tough as you talk every punch in that sparring would have been hard.

first tip of advice. You fight like you train So train like you want to fight.

If you are planning on fighting like that you fail

I hunged / bounced to much which confsumed alot of my energy on the 2nd vid i was up 7 or 8 rounds so i was kinda tired.
It was only a light sparring session but he caught me with a heavy right hand when i went for the jab to the body.

One last tip, you need to gtfo of youtube as from what I see it's full of shite wannabe boxers that post vids for people who have no clue to say they're amazing, I don't think I've seen one decent "Me training in my gym" vid yet. Besides that if you ever got good (long long way to go) you would have basically fucked yourself up as anyone could search you up and examine your style and nail a technique on countering it. And where the hell is the sweat?

It was only light sparring anyways i wana get up my hard sparring when i actually had a mouth guard and head gear on but i gta wait for my mate to send me it.

Stick to your coach not what some randomers on the internet tell you because whatever they have told you so far hasn't done much good from what you've shown in them vids. IF that was only light sparring then I can't help to think of how many flaws you'd show in full on sparring, seriously youtube boxers are all idiots, first of all it's so easy to search and analyze styles, and unless you're a top pro it's very unlikely that you'll be able to adapt when you get surprised at the start of a fight when everything you do is countered. This Golden Glove champ you talk about, he's already proven he's good, that's the difference, if he's a champ he's not got much to worry about as he's probably already fought so many styles and got so much feedback so he's gonna do fine. It really annoys me when people post shite like this, listen to your coach and people in your gym, and what fucking annoys me even more is that a gym with facilities like that produces such shit, over here we box in a little dusty building with old bags yet the gym produces top amateurs. This may seem harsh but it's honest, either you're spending to much time worrying about what the internet boxing crew think about you or your coach is shite and you need to switch gyms if you have any chance of becoming the light featherweight champ like you somehow think you can.

To show you what I mean, at the moment you're like these fuck wits.

Reaper, you have a long way to go before any coach should allow you to fight a real amateur match. I´d say you need at least 2 more years, with 4 days a week 3 hours a day of training.

The guy in the video is just playing with you. Wait until you get some real sparring, thats a whole different thing.
